FY1 Applications
Have you started thinking about the application for Foundation Year jobs yet? If you are currently in the 4th year you will be filling out the forms in less than 6 months. For the rest of you it may be longer but there is no reason why you can't start planning now.

For the Foundation Programme application forms as well as answering a list of questions you will also need two referees to say how brilliant you are! Well don't be worried, the BMA ISC (intra-schools committee) have come up with a novel way to help your chosen referees to remember who you are and what you learnt from them.

It may seem daunting to find two referees but if you start thinking now then it will be much easier than leaving it till the last minute.

All you need to do is either print off this form (Word 2003 version here) and add a picture of yourself (a nice respectable one please!) or copy one from facebook onto the word document then print. Then fill in the questions so they know who you are, what placement you were on with them and what you learnt from it. Thats it!

When the referees are asked for a reference from your prospective employers (which may be many months later), they will have some basic information to remind them of you to hopefully create a much more relevant reference. Please make sure you ask them before you fill in the form if they are happy to give you a reference, you may want to include a covering letter to them.

But this form is not only for the current 4th years... There is no reason why you can't be thinking about this as a 3rd or even 2nd year! Don't panic, be prepared and don't leave it till it's too late! The BMA ISC is here to help with any questions you may have...

Also coming soon.... The BMA ISC Forward Thinking Plan (including example questions from previous years applications and other helpful hints!)
